SEATTLE – The University of Washington football program, along with the Chuck Carroll family, have announced that the previously retired No. 2 football jersey will again be worn by a Husky football player. Carroll – a Husky Hall of Famer – wore No. 2 during his legendary playing career in the late 1920's. The No. 2 jersey will now be awarded by the head coach to a player who reflects the values of excellence and determination that Carroll was known for.
 
Junior wide receiver Aaron Fuller will have the prestigious honor of wearing No. 2 during the 2018 season.
 
"Husky Football is built on tradition and Chuck Carroll was the epitome of what our program is about," said head football coach Chris Petersen. "We are grateful to the Carroll family for allowing a Husky football player to wear the No. 2 jersey and we couldn't think of a better way to honor the legacy of Chuck Carroll." 
 
Carroll – who starred at Garfield High School during his prep days – built his prolific resume on Montlake during the 1927-28 seasons, where he bobbed and weaved his way into the Husky record books. Following a record-setting junior season, in which he accounted for 17 touchdowns, Carroll's most memorable performance came the following fall, when he accounted for six touchdowns in UW's 40-0 win over the College of Puget Sound. Carroll, a two-way and special teams player, missed just six minutes of playing time during his senior season. 
 
Following his All-American playing career, Carroll turned in his pads and helmet and pursued a career in law, serving as the King County Prosecuting Attorney for 22 years.   
 
Carroll has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (1958), the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame (1964) and the University of Washington Football Hall of Fame (1979).
 
Former Huskies' standout Kasen Williams wore the No. 2 jersey from 2011 – 2014, with permission from the Carroll family. The No. 2 jersey was retired shortly after Carroll's playing career at UW. 
 
The Huskies will open fall camp Friday before opening the season in Atlanta on Sept. 1 against Auburn.
