SEATTLE – Washington head women's tennis coach Robin Stephenson announced Tuesday Georgia Munns has promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach.

"Georgia is one of the best in the business and we are elated to promote her to be the Associate Head Coach," said Stephenson. "She has made a massive impact in every aspect of the program and has helped lay the foundation to create and elevate our culture over the past several years. She has played an integral role in the rise of the program and will play a major role in us sustaining our level."

"I'm excited to be named Associate Head Coach and grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow with the Huskies," said Munns. "Thank you to Robin, (Associate Athletic Director) Shondell Reed and (Director of Athletics) Jen Cohen for this honor. Robin has built an unbelievable culture here at UW and I'm so thankful to be part of it. I can't wait for our fall season to start!"

Munns completed her fifth season with the program, spending time as both a volunteer assistant and as the assistant coach under Stephenson. In 2018-19, Munns helped guide the Huskies to one of their best seasons in program history as UW went 21-5 in dual matches, finishing the season at No. 10 in the ITA rankings and tying for second in the Pac-12 with a program-best 8-2 record. In addition, the Huskies reached the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 for the first time in 10 years.

Prior to coming to UW, Munns spent two seasons at South Carolina where she earned ITA Carolina Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors, and spent three years at Illinois where she was named the ITA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2011.

Munns was a standout player at Northwestern, earning All-America honors all four seasons and amassing 125 singles wins. She was just the second player in school history to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships in all four seasons with the school.

The Mettawa, Ill., native was named the ITA Midwest Freshman of the Year and Big Ten Freshman of the year in 2006 and broke the school record for consecutive singles wins with 29. She helped lead the Wildcats to four straight conference titles, and final national rankings of No. 2 in the country in both 2008 and 2009.

"Georgia has an exceptional passion for what she does and is committed day in and day out to helping each of our girls become the best they can be," said Stephenson. "We share the same vision to compete for championships and the same values for the overall student-athlete experience. I can't think of a better person for our team to look up to and to be sharing these experiences with."
