SAN FRANCISCO - After leading the Pac-12 in most every pitching category, Gabbie Plain has been named the Pitcher of the Year by the Pac-12 Conference. Plain is the third Husky ever to earn Pitcher of the Year, joining Jennifer Spediacci (2000) and Danielle Lawrie (2009 & 2010).

This year, Plain led the Pac-12 in wins, strikeouts, complete games, and strikeouts per seven innings while finishing third in ERA. She had eight scoreless appearances against Pac-12 schools, including her sixth career no-hitter. Six times she struck out ten or more batters against Pac-12 competition, doing so 14 times overall on the season. Plain began the year 23-0, the longest undefeated start to a season in Washington history.

Plain joins Lawrie and Spediacci as the only Huskies ever to earn Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year. She is the first Husky pitcher to earn a yearly award from the Pac-12 since 2016, when Taran Alvelo earned Newcomer of the Year.

Plain is now in Washington's top ten all-time in wins and the top five in both strikeouts and shutouts. She has six no-hitters in her career, the second-most in Washington history behind Danielle Lawrie's eight. Two of those no-hitters were perfect games, while three more saw Plain allow only one baserunner.
